

In 2005 the Highlands College entered a new phase of development and renewal, under the new management. The student enrollment steadily increased and now it stands at 220 both boys and girls and the teaching staff of 20, qualified and trained, maintaining a very satisfactory student – teacher ratio of 11 students to per teacher – improvement to class rooms, and teaching facilities have been effected to bring about an enhanced learning environment.
A new primary section, at Rathanajothi Mawatha, in Nawala is the latest addition to Highlands College. Set in a beautiful quiet and prestigious residential area in Nawala, it provides an ideal learning environment to young children for a promising future.
The school library houses books and periodicals related to respective subject areas together with supplementary material for reference. The plan to up grade the library with enhanced Information Technology facility is being implemented, with the objective of to developing self – learning environment within the college for students, and them enabling to gain access to the latest knowledge in various fields via new communication technologies.
